| When
you decide to buy dog as a pet you need to consider many things so that
you can get a best pet. Decisions on size, coat type, potential health problems,
ease of training, need for exercise, behavior, temperament, and attitude made
before you visit a pet store or shelter will you to make a good decision on the
animal that will share your home. Size
of the dog
Generally, a large dog is not suitable for an apartment, for elderly owners, or
for mild-mannered women. However, some large, agile dogs adapt well to apartment
as long as they get a daily walk, and some are gentle enough that anyone with
a firm voice and manner can easily handle them. Small dogs may be unsuitable for
families with active children or elderly or sickly relatives who could trip over
a small, gay creature. Coat
of the dog Dogs with double coats do shed and shed more. These dogs shed
their hair all over the house and land everywhere. These hairs shed create a shabby
appearance in the house and also it spreads a doggy odor in the house. There are
certain breeds, which shed very little if brushed regularly, and this breed of
dogs is better than heavily shedding breeds. Health
Problems Some breeds of dogs such as Dalmatians are susceptible to kidney
problems, several breeds have bleeding disorder. Large and medium size breeds
are subject to several joint problems, including hip and elbow dysplasia
and loose kneecaps. Some breed of dogs is vulnerable to certain heart defects.
Ease
of Training Breed of dogs such as Golden Retrievers, Labrador Retrievers,
Border Collies, German Shepherds, and Shetland Sheepdogs are the sharpest-working
obedience, these breed of dogs is one of that worked traditionally well with the
humans. Some breed can be trained very easily but some are difficult to train.
Dogs such as terriers, hounds and those found in the northern parts of the world
are tough to train because of their independent nature. Sporting and herding dogs
are easier to train.
Exercise
requirement Some dogs are lethargic and others are very energetic. Active
families would be happier with a pet that can jog, hike, and play ball. Airedales,
German Shepherds, and Border Collies are very active breeds of dog. More dignified
families would most likely prefer a quieter animal. Cute as they are, Basset
Hounds, Dachshunds, and Corgis are not jogging companions. Temperament
Some breeds of dogs are very aggressive and dominant in their behavior. Terriers
a breed of dog is little bit tough and independent, but the Airedale Terriers
are very close to the human beings. The temperament of breeds may vary from groups
of breeds. It is worth spending time researching what kind of dog will suit you
and your family. Just
like humans, dogs are living longer so the pup you choose may still be part of
the family in 14 years time. You may have a preference for a particular breed
or you may want a crossbreed, but it is important that you select the right dog
for your lifestyle. It is essential to get a healthy pup from a clean home where
the litter has been well nurtured and handled from an early age. Spend some time,
too, with the mother to get an idea of her temperament. If she is the kind of
dog you would like as your pet, than her puppies should be suitable for you.
